The Verizon Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) is part of Verizon Legal reporting up to the Chief Security Office (CSO). The mission of the GSOC is to protect the brand equity of Verizon by communicating cyber intelligence to decision makers via data collection, event analysis, and information reporting.
100% technical. Responsibilities include support of critical infrastructure and internal customer support. Primary duties include systems administration of virtual and physical enterprise Windows Server tools and shared services, storage, and Windows and Apple desktop infrastructure. This position requires the ability to work independently with little technical supervision.
Deploy and manage physical and virtual server and workstation hardware. Perform OS and application configuration and maintenance.
Manage enterprise storage and back-up/recovery services. Manage centralized authentication, AV, SQL, and other shared services.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, OS, network, and application errors on physical and virtual server and workstation infrastructure.
Perform BIOS, firmware, OS, and application updates on a regular schedule.
Develop tools and processes to automate tasks and generate reports.
Manage processes, procedures, and documentation to maintain ISO 27001 certification.
Maintain the GSOC asset inventory and credentials database.
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills to explain and document ideas.
Complete other duties assigned by GSOC management.
The regular schedule is weekday business hours but irregular hours may be required in response to important projects or operational emergencies.
This position will require 24/7 on-call readiness as directed by the GSOC management team.
A minimum of three years full-time professional experience performing a systems administration job role with ticket- based workflows is required.
Professional experience supporting enterprise Windows and macOS workstations is required.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate basic scripting skills to perform common administrative tasks using Bash or MS PowerShell.
Excellent oral and written communication skills to explain and document ideas.
Must be able to work independently without supervision.
Desired skills and experience:
Professional experience managing virtualization and storage infrastructures is highly desirable.
Professional experience using Splunk is highly desirable.
Knowledge of Verizon processes and procedures is highly desirable.
Valid professional credentials demonstrating relevant competencies are highly desirable.
