Job Title: Director of AR


The AR/Contracting Director will oversee all aspects of a large and growing HCA urgent care revenue cycle service line, including but not limited to people, payment posting, managed care, denial management, workers’ compensation, pre-employment, private pay, third party collections, provider credentialing, release of medical records and urgent care reception/operator functions. Currently responsible for over 75 employees and 83 urgent care locations.
This position will stay abreast of current issues at hand, manage people, confront problem issues, and recognize future problems in staffing and production while preserving the best interest of the company.


• Manage the activities of all AR Managers and their team, including collections, billing, posting, reimbursement, and release of information.
• Manage the activities and work flow of the operator/receptionist for entire urgent care service line ensuring customer service is maintained.
• Key influence with credentialing and provider enrollment team, working closely with members to ensure all provider and urgent care locations are credentialed in a timely manner following all state, governmental, payer contract, NCQA, work comp, and AAAHC guidelines. Ensure policies and procedures follow guidelines and with CPC direction. Develop key relationships with CPC (Credentialing Provider Center) in each region to ensure compliance and best credentialing results.
• Manage the development, continuous improvement and compliance of all departmental policies and procedures to effectively manage all aspects of AR.
• Monitor productivity goals, benchmarks, progress, departmental achievements, and provide feedback for implementing improvement.
• Recognize departmental achievement and offer praise.
• Provide support, coaching, and guidance to team members through constant communication, meetings, huddles, and one on one sessions. Facilitate and conduct regular team meetings.
• Work closely with operations and regional medical directors to ensure billing/coding processes and contractual guidelines are followed.
• Prepare the department budget identifying needs and or reductions
• Ensure timely and appropriate response to patient and better business complaints.
• Develop and teach personnel within the AR Department to ensure continued improvement and growth to meet the evolving environment of healthcare.
• Act as a liaison and manage the processes between all urgent care clinics and revenue cycle to identify trends, trouble shoot, and improve processes.
• Monitor denials to determine inefficiencies within the department and make recommendations regarding the correction of these trends/problems.
• Oversee and monitor urgent care benefit trends and employer specific instruction sheets.
• Provide regular reporting and communication to AVP of Urgent Care Service Line revenue cycle trends, findings, and results.
• Perform month end closing and completion of associated reports.
• Accountable for quality, productivity, and timeliness of the work performed.
• Responsible for maintaining departmental and company goals.
• Ensures conformance with company policies, Mission Statement and Excellence Strategy.
• Makes certain department is committed to carrying out their job with integrity, honesty, humbleness, efficiency, sense of urgency, and excellence. Supports highly ethical behavior at all times.
• Works to preserve current culture of organization.
• Ensures compliance of excellence patient satisfaction and customer service in all areas of the revenue cycle department.

• Strong working knowledge of revenue cycle practice management system. Ability to manage two practice management systems which include Practice Velocity and a proprietary system.
• Strong Analytical skill and excellence vocabulary/written skills to produce effective letters, documents, and emails.
• Knowledge of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS classification systems.
• Knowledge of Medicare RBRVS, Medicaid, Tricare, and managed care/work comp fee schedules.
• Knowledge of HCFA 1500 and all associated fields for billing purposes.
• ANSI 5010 837 Knowledge preferred.
• Ensure conformance to HIPAA regulations and guidelines.
• Practice and adhere to the company Mission Statement and Excellence Strategy
