Job Description:/h3:
POLICY: The receptionist is a representative and often the patients first impression of the Emergency facility. Therefore, it is important to have a warm interest in other people, like to meet and work with patients and other employees, and have a pleasing conversation tone and a friendly smile. A clean, professional appearance is important as this is an outward indication of the facilitys efficiency and cleanliness. It is the receptionists responsibility to be punctual, make every effort to insure patient is treated with compassion, that their safety is ensured according to policy and procedure, and to instigate and execute all other tasks as requested by the Business Office Coordinator or Facility Administrator directly.
Handle incoming calls to the Facility and distributing messages as needed.
:Arrive at the facility 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the daily shift schedule.
:Prepare coffee for the facility throughout shift.
:Facilitate a smooth transition with outgoing staff regarding pending issues that will carry over to current shift.
:Fill out and complete all authorization forms for review.
:Greet and register patients arriving for treatment, explain and obtain required paperwork from patient including copies of patient insurance and other information required by facility.
:Enter new or revised patient information into computer on a daily basis.
:Will ensure that all approved Facility forms are ordered in a timely manner.
:Verify patient insurance benefits, collect co:payments, coinsurance, and deductibles on a consistent and reliable basis
:Assist in creating and maintaining Confidential Patient Records for any treatment activity as needed, or directed by facility management and clinical staff.
:Assist in pre:certification process when requested.

Minimal Qualifications:
:Healthcare registration experience preferred.
:Requires a high school certificate or equivalency.
:Certification of Basic Life Support
:Requires ability to distinguish between colors
:Requires analytical and organizational skills, effective communication skills, requires problem solving abilities and assertiveness.
:Requires working knowledge of phone and intercom system.
:Requires working knowledge of basic computer skills and healthcare software where requested by the Administrator.

Physical/Mental Requirements:

1. Position exerts up to 50 lb. of force and/or up to 20 lb. of force frequently and/or up to 10lb of force consistently to move objects.
2. Requires, pushing, pulling, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and finger dexterity.
3. This position has been determined by the Facility as having occasional exposure to blood borne pathogens and other infectious materials as defined by the State Regulations.
4. All positions are responsible for adhering to a promoting its personal policies and procedures of the Facility and for meeting the quality and customer service standards as specified by the Facility.
