The Lead Payroll Analyst will work in a shared services payroll organization with approximately 55,000 employees reporting to Payroll Management, oversee on and off-cycle payroll processing, related payroll controls, and policies and procedures. Provides guidance over the work being performed by the payroll execution, tax, audit, garnishment and payroll special services teams and other staff as assigned.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Mentor, assist team members in the methods and tools to analyze, audit, reconcile and resolve complex payroll processing to ensure timely and accurate employee compensation
  • Collaborate with management to maintain/level load special project/task assignment; monitor staff workload based on input from individuals and give recommendations to management for final decisions on actual adjustments to workload
  • Report/collaborate with management to resolve staffing resource issues.
  • Provide guidance, work direction and prioritization of daily workload for staff; resolve escalated Payroll issues
  • Facilitate cross-team partnering for collaborative process review
  • Oversee process guide and work instruction maintenance as applicable to team responsibilities
  • Execute/validate SAP payroll processing and interfacing routines
  • Assist with the analysis, compilation and reconciliation of payroll to accounting, accounts payable third party payments and Verify and evaluate payroll program modifications created by programmers.
  • Verify and evaluate payroll configuration initiated by the Enterprise Solution Group
  • Participate in implementation and maintenance of payroll-impacting external partner policies and services purchased from outside vendors
  • Act as a liaison between payroll and ESG/ITS to ensure timely communication of system enhancements and capabilities
  • Prepare detailed functional requirements and monitor OSSM requests to delivery time and schedule
  • Build and foster customer relationships with key business partners
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable legislation related to paycheck preparation
  • Work cooperatively and jointly to ensure team provides quality customer service
  • Conduct audits to validate internal controls to ensure accuracy and compliance with policies, practices and regulations related to payroll
  • Facilitate training and conduct meetings to inform payroll employees of new developments or work procedures
  • Lead discussions for payroll processing activities, new policies or procedures
  • Continuously review payroll processes for improvements to streamline work processes
  • Participate on payroll process improvement teams; evaluate current processes and procedures, identify opportunities for improvement, develop new processes/procedures, implement and assess impact of change
  • Coordinate activities supporting required payroll related audits
  • Serve as a liaison to other departments to implement initiatives that have a multi-department impact
